TD Banks 'TD Tree Days' was on September 16th, 2018, located on the West side of Grande Prairie.
Although it was a dark and gloomy day, there were still 20-30 participants that showed up ready to plant some trees! Many of the participants were families and their children, which was awesome to see kids outside, getting dirty and planting some trees!
The event was well organized and planting the trees was quite simple. The holes were already dug with trees near them. TD staff had taught people how to place the trees in the holes, cover them up, and place mulch around each tree. Robbyn was sure to comment on the special instruction given by the TD team member to 'REMOVE the pot BEFORE placing the tree into the hole'. A funny comment, but apparently required as last year some had accidentally placed a potted tree into the hole!
Another comment Robbyn had made was how kind the City staff were. Encouraging cheers and compliments were given to most everyone as they planted, which was a lovely addition to the event.
Overall, this event was a great success and we're excited to see the trees and bushes blossom into something beautiful! We hope that events like these help make a positive impact on our community and their mindfulness towards waste.
